We size all of our items as best we can according to U.S. standard sizes, but because so many of our clothes are hand-made, the sizing can fluctuate quite a bit, and even comparable items are rarely exactly alike. This is why we have such a broad range of sizes, with lots of areas in between (such as “medium/large,” which is halfway between a medium and a large). We’ve tried to make it clear what size-range those items fit, as best we can, but we highly recommend trying the clothing on before purchasing, and perhaps trying both a size up and a size down from what you normally wear.
With online sales, obviously trying on an item before purchasing is not an option, but we do recommend that you pay close attention to the measurements (which we try to include in most of the items’ descriptions), and perhaps including a size smaller or larger than your normal size (which you can then return for store credit, an exchange, or a refund).
The owner of El Interior, Marcia Lucas, has been doing business for over thirty years, traveling personally to Mexico and Guatemala, and building relationships with the crafters and artisans whose wares she purchases. There is no middle-man or corporate entity involved, and Marcia buys directly from the individuals responsible for so many of our clothing, folk art, textiles, and other imports. So rest assured that your purchases from El Interior are directly supporting the artists who created them!
