Marcia's Minute
We have just unpacked most of our last shipment
and I want to share
with you how delighted Charlie and I were to
stumble across some very fine pieces in Acatlan,
Puebla; made by the family of the late Master
Folk Artist Heron Martinez, his [also now
deceased] niece and nephew. It has been a good
while since we stopped there and even longer
since we purchased anything of note in Acatlan.
Come in and look around! SPRING is here!
All in all we had an exceptional January
February buying trip purchasing gorgeous
clothing, great folk art finds, beautiful
sterling silver from Taxco and guided an amazing
group of travelers to some of our favorite
places in Oaxaca. If you are interested in
traveling with us get on our List to be
Notified first!
In addition to the many new arrivals we show in
this month's issue, we also have stocked up for
upcoming spring festivities, and that includes
new papel picado (both for general celebrations
and for weddings) and a new assortment of paper
flowers--always an easy way to brighten up and
add color to any party.
Stop in soon--you will love all of the good
things to see!
Saludos,
Marcia Lucas

Our
tour last January to Oaxaca, Mexico, was a
success! It included walking the markets,
touring the ruins, visiting master folk artists,
and listening to music on the zocalo at night.
It was absolutely memorable.
We all had an wonderful time, so we thought we'd
share some of our photos from this incredible
place.

I wanted to show
everyone these
incredible
pillows that
someone in
Mexico made out
of old
Tehuantepec
huipiles.
When we went to
Oaxaca in
January, we
stayed at the
Casa de mis
Recuerdos, and
they had this
lovely little
sitting area, as
shown. I was
totally blown
away by the
pillows that
were made from
Tehuantepec
huipiles! They
are so vibrant
and beautiful! I
have seen some
beautiful
pillows made
from Guatemalan
huipiles (we
even have some
at the store),
but I loved this
idea of using
the Tehuantepec
huipiles as
well, so I
wanted to be
sure to show you
all this
absolutely
stunning idea!
