Marcia's Minute

We
love our new Luna Luz dresses! These fabulous
dresses (pictured to the left) have a very
Austin look that works all the year long.
Designed by a Spaniard, they have an exotic and
romantic flare about them - and as one customer
said, it is "the most slenderizing dress I have
ever tried on! I love
it!" Additionally, they show off your jewelry
perfectly: from concho belts and turquoise, to
your very special silver pieces done by the
Taxco Masters. You can also accessorize them
with ethnic sashes and rebozos, and their style
will move into the next season effortlessly.
Also - a reminder to those of you who are always
searching for special items for yourself or for
gift-giving, it is the summer buying time for
the Fall and Christmas season! We would love to
hear of your special requests and any special
orders you might have! Folk Art is fantastic for
gifts, and it adds a wonderfully unique flavor
to your home or office decor. Send us an email
with your question and phone number, or just
call and I will return your call. Although we
cannot promise quick results - We will try our
best to order it or point you in a good
direction. Remember, although it might take a
little bit of time,
Saludos,
Marcia Lucas

100th Birthday of Artist Frida Khalo |

Frida Kahlo
(1907-1954),
Mexican Painter
From 1926 until her death, Frida Kahlo painted
striking, often shocking, images that reflected her
turbulent life. In the last two decades, an
explosion of Kahlo-inspired films, plays, calendars,
and jewelry has transformed the artist into a
veritable cult figure, and this month marks what
would be her 100th birthday.

July Artist Spotlight: Concepcion Aguilar
|

Concepcion Aguilar, the
youngest of the famous Aguilar Sisters, was only
nine when her mother died without teaching her the
skills she had previously passed on to her other
daughters. However, Concepcion developed her
incredible skill with clay by imitating her
sisters. Perhaps because of her dedication to
creativity, she definitely holds her own with them
today, & some would even argue that she is the
most innovative artist among her talented family.

El Interior Mailbag |
Hi Amy,
The attached photos show how I used the wonderful
fabric from El Interior to add little colorful
touches to my deck. The deck is a small L-shaped
structure. I affectionately refer to the first
grouping as the conversation area, then the dining
area, and finally the reading (or maybe) napping
area.
Mary Beth Wilbanks
Guatemalan fabric sold
by-the-yard at El Interior
was used to give color, personality, and comfort to
this porch: Mary Beth Wilbanks custom-made
throw pillows, a table runner & a headrest for her
plain wooden deck furniture.

Thank
you, Mary Beth, for sharing your project
with us!
I'm sure this will give inspiration to
others looking for a
way to dress up their outdoor living areas.
