Marcia's Minute

On May 5, 1862, in the city of Puebla, Mexican forces defeated anMarcia Lucas attack by the French army. In this Battle of Puebla, the Mexicans were led by General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín, a Texas-born commander. Although the Mexican army was victorious over the French at Puebla, the victory only delayed the French invasion of Mexico. French occupying forces placed Maximilian I, Emperor of Mexico on the throne of Mexico. The French eventually withdrew in 1866-1867and Maximilian was executed in Queretero, five years after the Battle of Puebla.

The holiday "Cinco de Mayo", which has been celebrated in Texas continuously since 1863, is virtually ignored in Mexico, where it is a regional holiday mostly in the state of Puebla. In the United States, Cinco de Mayo has taken on significance beyond that in Mexico. The day is recognized as a date to celebrate the culture and experiences of Americans of Mexican ancestry and is observed by many Americans regardless of ethnic origin.

We have all of the clothes that you need for kids and adults for all of the Cinco de Mayo celebrations around town. And don't forget the decorations: papel picado (paper flags), and paper flowers are a wonderful way to make any occasion festive, including weddings!

And, of course, as things heat up we have lovely cool cotton clothing for everyday activities or outdoor weddings. Guayaberas shirts for men are a fantastic way for the Groom and his party to look stylish and stay cool at the same time.

As always, there is lots to see so stop in soon!

Saludos,

We made this beautiful mobile using the tin ornaments we bought at El Interior. The pictures do not do it justice, sorry to say, but it is really nice and I know the baby will love it!
