Functional and non-functional work in wood ranges from hand-painted storage cabinets and trunks from Guatemala to an army of whimsical wood carvings: armadillos, porcupines, dogs and cats. Legions of lizards by Zaraté march across the walls next to incredible works by the grand masters such as Isidoro Cruz, Gabino Reyes, and Epifanio Fuentes. We have wooden masks, santos and retablos from all regions: both modern and antique, and rare religious wood carvings, including nativities/crèches/nacimientos of all sizes and types.

Gabino Reyes' work in woodcarving is exceptional, with an emphasis to fine detail. He is among the best of the Oaxacan woodcarvers, and his work is not widely available and are true treasures. Click Here to see selection of Reyes' work available at El Interior.

The process used to produce incredible Olinalá pieces is extremely tedious and exacting work. Read all about the wonderful work that produces these delicate looking (yet very durable) pieces of art and Click Here to see selection of Olinalá pieces available at El Interior.

David Mercado
At this time, we are pleased to offer custom art pieces from David Mercado's "Virgen de Guadalupe" series. The series boasts large, textured, and incredibly vivid paintings of the Virgin's image, along with the newest additions to this series: furniture. Chairs, chests, tables, lamps, and other furniture turn into beautiful canvases on which the Virgin of Guadalupe is featured. Mercado transforms these humble wooden furniture pieces into truly inspirational works of art. Click Here to see David Mercado's work available at El Interior.
