Masks
These whimsical, colorful masks were hand crafted in
Guerrero, Mexico by Nahua Indian families who have been
producing this wonderful folk art for many generations. Each
was made using a coconut shell, which has been dried and
then hollowed out. Various appendages have been added using
a variety of indigenous plants, including seedpods, small
corncobs and an assortment of natural items at hand. Artists
then apply acrylic paint and lacquer, making each mask
unique.
