Women’s fashions are the pride of El Interior. We carry Alejandro Julian, Diana Martín of Guadalajara, Luna Luz, CLICK, Dunes, and Liz & Jane. El Interior’s own label—La Sirena—incorporates indigenous designs and materials and is hand sewn to provide chic, year round comfort for the heat of the Southwest. Prized San Antonino dresses, Pico skirts and huipiles from Oaxaca, Chiapas and the altiplano of Guatemala are found in all sizes and colors. We also have colorful "Frida Kahlo" tops from Tehuantepec and Juchitan, as well as white-on-white rococo embroidered blouses from Chiapas.

The Karen Wilkinson Collection is a distinctive line of jackets created primarily from vintage, hand-woven Saltillo sarapes and a variety of other interesting textiles from around the world. These highly collectable creations include a special line of jackets made from Guatemalan textiles created exclusively for El Interior. Click Here to read about Karen Wilkinson and see a selection of her work available at El Interior.

Guatemalan Huipiles
A huipile is an Aztec or Nauhuatl word referring to a Mesoamerican woman's upper body garment.  The Guatemalan Huipile is a native or indigenous woman's garment and is basically still in it's native form. Most of the huipiles are woven on a back-strap, pre-Hispanic type of loom, by a single woman for her own use or perhaps a family member; some are woven on the larger treadle loom. Each huipile has special pattern associated with a particular village. Click Here to read about Guatemalan Huipiles and see a sampling of the current selection at El Interior.
